Ell is an Edinburgh-based comic artist and illustrator who originally emerged from the North Sea. A lot of their work is inspired by folklore and the ocean - though they are also a big fan of death metal. Their favourite things to draw are horses, guitars and sad men.

Ell's comic Catharsis was published by Quindrie Press in 2023.They have produced comics with the CHIP Collective and Oh Joy Sex Toy as well as being featured in Frisson Comics' 2021 Knock Knock Folk Horror Anthology.Illustration credits include spot pieces for TTRPG book Apawthecaria by Stout Stoat Press, and they are the resident artist for The Orkney Roastery, periodically producing images for their coffee labels, website and promotional materials.They have been invited to speak on panels at both Cymera Festival and Edinburgh Comic Arts Festival to discuss the nature of their work and the importance of folklore and Scottish stories.Ell is also co-organiser of Comic Cocoon, a monthly moderated discussion group for comic creators in Edinburgh.
